S4 is a planning team for Sustainable City and Smartcity Development. It was founded in Northern Germany, by 4 core design/ planning companies and several cooperation partners, which all are specialized on various fields of city development.

BWW / PROKOM
The office was established in 1963. In 1998, the office was devided into two companies. BRIEN.WESSELS.WERNING GMBH (BWW) works in all fields related to landscape architecture. PROKOM GMBH emerged in the fields of Smartcity development, Sustainable Urban Planning, project management and communication in building processes. The office leaders are urban planner Ernst Wessels and landscape architect Andreas Werning.

PLANUNG & MODERATION
The office was founded by landscape architect Joachim Möller 1999 in Lübeck, and moved to Hamburg in 2000. Beside the common working fields of landscape architecture, the office is also focused on participation, moderation and mediation. Project management and concept developement processes complete the offices abilities.

MASUR & PARTNER
The planning company Masur & Partners was established in October 1994 by Dipl.-Ing. Paul-Philipp Masur (1971-1994). Since 1994 the office is led by architect Hani Kokali and architect Siegfried Klein. The company is working on projects in the fields of hospital and social housing, nursing and retirement homes, office and administrative buildings, banks and residential buildings as well as special buildings (e.g. operation rooms…). The office is one of the best known companies for hospital architecture design in Germany.

The company was founded by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Friedhelm Sieker & Prof. Dr.-Ing. Heiko Sieker in 01.01.1998. It works on planning and software engineering in the field of hydrology, especially urban hydrology. It is including the fields of hydrology in general (flood protection, river ecology), urban hydrology, urban drainage. In additional it has best management practices.

Harbour City University 汉堡港口城市大学（HCU）
REAP (Resource Efficiency in Architecture and Planning) and USIP (Urban and Infrastructure Planning) are two programs at Hafencity Universität Hamburg, led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Dickhaut. It deals with various instruments and contents of infrastructure and environmental planning. Objective is to develop current and applicable guidelines for more effective connection of environmental planning knowledge and daily planning practise. Professor Dickhaut will take over the scientific guidance of our team projects.

Urban Planning and Regional Development, its focus lies on generating knowledge in the fields of sustainable urban and regional planning and development, metropolitan, urban and regional governance as well as planning cultures. By addressing main challenges facing urban and regional development - such as sustainable development, climate change, competitiveness, cohesion, integration and demographic change - priority is given to research, interdisciplinary studies and innovative solutions.

Main focus is on the energy efficency and sustainability of the planned and built projects.
For more then 25 years the office works in the fields of new construction and renovation of residential -, commercial -, industrial -, university -, kindergarten -, school - and authority buildings as well as airport terminals and fire brigade stations. A special task is over the years the work in the biggest Hamburg Zoo (Hagenbecks Tierpark) and the television company (NDR) with their very specific challenges for the offices abilities. A new field of work is the development of smart home concepts.
